Coates questions
Do you work in Coates?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Coates. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Is a bath repair durable?
Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
Are there extra charges for Coates?
We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.
How invisible is a bath repair?
The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.
How do I get a price for bath repair in Coates?
Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
Repair or replace: which is better?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why us?
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Typically one visit, start to finish
- A year’s guarantee on all work

How the visit works
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
Ask for a price
Send us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your PE7 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
Advice
When to call us in Coates
Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.
The things clients generally mention when they call are:
- Holes from dropped items
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- A chipped rim or side
- Snagging damage from a refit
Comparing quotes
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- How to look after the finish

Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.
What we can’t put right
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- A steel bath rusted through
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.
What we work on
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
