Bath repair in Codnor, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can generally use the bath the following day. If you’re dealing with impact holes in acrylic and cracks in an acrylic bath, we can help, on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Codnor as everywhere else we work.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

The process

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips, tidy-up included.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can

Getting a price

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Your questions about bath repair in Codnor

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Codnor.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Landlord and trade work in Codnor

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Most customers in Codnor get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
