The process
We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have a window or extractor fan available
Ask for a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately whether it can be repaired.
Advice
Bath repair in Golden Valley without replacing anything
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. Our repair technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

When we’d advise against a repair
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

When to call us in Golden Valley
Rust tends to begin where water collects, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
The things clients normally mention when they call include:
- Damage beneath the taps
- A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- A chipped rim or side

Golden Valley questions
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
What happens after I send photos?
We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
How much does bath repair cost in Golden Valley?
Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Is a bath repair permanent?
Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple:
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.
Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
