About our bath repair in Collins Green

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the following day. We are often asked to fix hairline or through cracks in acrylic and chips along the edge of the bath, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Most clients in Collins Green get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repair or replace in Collins Green?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.

How to prepare

When to call us in Collins Green

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

FAQs for Collins Green

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Do you cover the entire of Warrington?

All of Warrington, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you come to Collins Green?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Collins Green from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Are there extra charges for Collins Green?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.
