Cradoc: your questions answered

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

How much does bath repair cost in Cradoc?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Powys, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

When to call us in Cradoc

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

The things customers usually mention when they call are:

  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A cracked acrylic bath

What to look for in a quote

  • Aftercare advice
  • What prep work is covered
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How your room will be protected

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Repairing versus replacing in Cradoc

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Cradoc

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Cradoc. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back

For a price in Cradoc, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
