Bath repair in Cribyn, done in place
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include snagging damage from a refit and cracks in an acrylic bath, across cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

How to look after the repair
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
What happens on the day
We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Make sure the area is dry
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Repairing versus replacing in Cribyn
A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Repairs by material
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Common problems we fix in Cribyn
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed:
- Impact holes in acrylic
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- Chips under the taps

Common questions in Cribyn
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send pictures.
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
Do you cover the whole of Ceredigion?
We cover the entire UK, including Cribyn and the rest of Ceredigion. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.
Is my repair covered?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:
- How hard the colour is to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How many items we do on one visit
- What kind of damage it is
We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Cribyn. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Any details about the material
Most clients in Cribyn get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
When we’d advise against a repair
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Pressed steel enamel
