How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Bath repair in Dalgety Bay, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, typically in a single visit. Our repair technicians work on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are cracks in an acrylic bath and chips along the edge of the bath.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

What we do, step by step

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Dalgety Bay. The price comes down to:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Repairing versus replacing in Dalgety Bay

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • One visit for most repairs

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Signs you need bath repair in Dalgety Bay

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Chips caused by builders
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
