Bath repair in Eccleston

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Eccleston. The price comes down to:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is

Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your photos

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price.

Bath repair in Eccleston without replacing anything

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are cracks in an acrylic bath and a kit repair that didn’t last.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Eccleston questions

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Do you cover the whole of Flintshire?

All of Flintshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Eccleston

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We leave the room as we found it

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the area is dry

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
