How we handle bath repair in Flint
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can generally use the bath the day after. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and rust by the waste and overflow, across roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Repair or replace in Flint?
People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Normally it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Why Flint customers choose us
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- A fixed quote before you book
Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.
The process
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Let us know about parking or access
Getting a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will say straight away whether it can be repaired.
Advice
When a repair isn’t the answer
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Cast iron enamel
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Have new chips seen to early
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Work for landlords and builders
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Flint use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
For anyone letting property in or around Flint, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
What we are called out for in Flint
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
If you can see any of these, send us a picture:
- Rusty patches near the plughole
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Chips under the taps
- Chips on the rim or sides
What your quote should include
- What happens if they find more damage
- If travel is included in the price
- Who will actually do the work
- How your room will be protected
