Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Should you replace it?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Same prices wherever you are

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Common questions in Elson

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What areas do you cover?

All of Hampshire, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

How long before I can use the bath?

Typically the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage

Ask for a price

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.

Related advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Elson

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Elson. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
