About our bath repair in Fairfield

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles are not touched, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Common call-outs are for holes from dropped items and deep scratches in acrylic, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

FAQs for Fairfield

Will the repair last?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Fairfield. The price reflects:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size

If you’re in Fairfield and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you are in Fairfield, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one generally means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Do you need bath repair in Fairfield?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips on the rim or sides
