How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Bath repair in Fishguard and Goodwick without replacing anything

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and snagging damage from a refit.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Have new chips seen to early

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

What affects the price in Fishguard and Goodwick

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Fishguard and Goodwick. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Fishguard and Goodwick, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Fishguard and Goodwick as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
