Honest limits
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Materials we repair
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Cast iron enamel
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
Keeping it looking good
It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Rinse it down after each bath
Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.
Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
Landlord and trade work in Gavinton
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
If you manage property in Gavinton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.
The process
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Why repair rather than replace?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
