Need bath repair in Great Holland?

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Bath repair in Great Holland, done in place

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people contact us are rusty patches near the plughole and holes from dropped items.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Great Holland and across Essex.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

FAQs for Great Holland

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is a bath repair durable?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Do you cover Great Holland?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Great Holland for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Repair or replace in Great Holland?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. Generally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Great Holland

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • No extra charge for your area

  • Rooms protected and left tidy

See our pricing or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Take it off before we arrive.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
