Bath repair in Hartley

Bath repair in Hartley without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Whether it’s chips under the taps and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can generally put it right, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Hartley and across North Tyneside.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Open a window if you can

What we are called out for in Hartley

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Damage beneath the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How to look after the finish

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace in Hartley?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Read our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

What affects the price in Hartley

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A picture taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.
