Bath repair near Whitley Bay

Bath repair at your home in Whitley Bay

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the next day. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Common call-outs are for damage beneath the taps and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage

Whitley Bay questions

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Often, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Work done at your home or business
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We leave the room as we found it

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

When to call us in Whitley Bay

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, often before anyone notices. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips under the taps

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
