Trusted bath repair in Murton

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Advice

Bath repair in Murton, done in place

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. If you’re dealing with rusty patches near the plughole and snagging damage from a refit, we can typically put it right, on acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel alike.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Questions from Murton

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

When can I have a bath again?

Normally within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Do you need bath repair in Murton?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Chips caused by builders

Our hiring checklist

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Should you replace it?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.
