FAQs for Hedon
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across East Riding of Yorkshire.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
How long before I can use the bath?
Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.
Do you cover Hedon?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Hedon. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
About our bath repair in Hedon
Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and snagging damage from a refit, across pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How it works
We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
How to get a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
Advice
What we can’t put right
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
Work for landlords and builders
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
When to call us in Hedon
A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Rust by the waste and overflow
Questions to ask before booking
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What protection goes down before work starts
- When it can be used again
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
Can I fix it myself?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
Should you replace it?
If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
What you get with us

How to care for the repair
It’s all simple stuff:
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.
Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
