Bath repair in Hundall

How we handle bath repair in Hundall

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Typical jobs include hairline or through cracks in acrylic and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Repairing versus replacing in Hundall

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim generally crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Hundall questions

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Are there extra charges for Hundall?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Derbyshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

When to call us in Hundall

Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, frequently before anyone notices. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the colour is matched
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who turns up on the day

Choosing a repair company

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Hundall. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send photos for a quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
