What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most clients in Kingston upon Hull get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Kingston upon Hull: your questions answered

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

When can I have a bath again?

Typically the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Kingston upon Hull

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What we are called out for in Kingston upon Hull

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What to look for in a quote

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether the price covers travel

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Kingston upon Hull use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Take it off before we arrive.
