Surface repairs across HU5

About bath repair in HU5

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Typical jobs include chips along the edge of the bath and cracks in an acrylic bath, across roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Cost

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

Why clients in HU5 choose us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

How to get a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job without visiting.

What’s near Stepney

We visit homes around Pearson Park, Stepney Primary School and Church of St Mary, among other places. Other local landmarks include Hull Grammar School (0.8 miles north-west), Hull Trinity House Academy (within half a mile south) and The Bull Public House (within half a mile east). The closest station to Stepney is Hull station, roughly 1 mile south. A little further out are Marshalls Humber Car Museum (0.8 miles east) and Baynard Castle (3.4 miles north-west).

Repairing versus replacing

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.

What your quote should include

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again

Common problems we fix in HU5

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Chips under the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • The material

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

FAQs for HU5

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you cover the entire of Hull?

We work UK-wide, so HU5 is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
