Need bath repair in Lenten Pool?

Repair or replace: which is better?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

About our bath repair in Lenten Pool

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about scuffs and scratches in the surface and impact holes in acrylic.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Common questions in Lenten Pool

Are there extra charges for Lenten Pool?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow two to three hours for most chips.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Common problems we fix in Lenten Pool

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Holes from dropped items

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How the colour is matched

What affects the price in Lenten Pool

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.
