About our bath repair in St Asaph

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day. We work on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a chip where the taps sit and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

When to call us in St Asaph

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A chip where the taps sit

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for St Asaph. What changes the price is:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

FAQs for St Asaph

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.
