About our bath repair in Little Rissington

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. We regularly repair acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are hairline or through cracks in acrylic and a chipped rim or side.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Gloucestershire.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

When we’d advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

What affects the price in Little Rissington

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlord and trade work in Little Rissington

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
