Bath repair for Lochhill homes

About our bath repair in Lochhill

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and common reasons people contact us are a chip where the taps sit and a kit repair that didn’t last.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Lochhill and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

What we can’t put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Lochhill: your questions answered

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

What areas do you cover?

All of Moray, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.
