Bath repair for Milehill homes

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Milehill

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

About our bath repair in Milehill

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are cracks in an acrylic bath and chips caused by builders.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Landlord and trade work in Milehill

For anyone letting property in or around Milehill, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

When to call us in Milehill

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

Before you book anyone

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How your room will be protected

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a morning or an afternoon. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why book with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No extra charge for your area

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

FAQs for Milehill

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you cover the whole of Derbyshire?

Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
