Bath repair in Old Town

Bath repair in Old Town, done in place

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath doesn’t move. Typical jobs include rust spots around the plughole and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, in pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we’re called out for in Old Town

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips under the taps

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Barnsley and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

The process

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Open a window if you can

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • No need to remove anything
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

See our prices page or bath cost comparison.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

A small chip is a quick job. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Old Town: your questions answered

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so we need access under the bath.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.

How much does bath repair cost in Old Town?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your S75 postcode.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
