How we handle bath repair in Oldford
A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and you can usually bathe again the following day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We regularly repair whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are rust by the waste and overflow and scratches you can feel with a fingernail.
You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairs by material
Composite and resin
Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:
- The material and finish
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Doing more than one item at once
- How easy the damage is to reach
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Oldford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Oldford: your questions answered
Do the materials smell?
Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?
Normally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.
How it works
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Make sure the area is dry
How to get a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
Honest limits
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Cast iron enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Rinse it down after each bath
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
