Bath repair for Port Marine homes

Bath repair in Port Marine, done in place

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Whether it’s damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can usually put it right, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Port Marine and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Common problems we fix in Port Marine

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Chips under the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How the colour is matched
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What happens if they find more damage

Our hiring checklist

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • A fixed quote before booking

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Your questions about bath repair in Port Marine

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Do you cover the entire of North Somerset?

We cover the entire UK, including Port Marine and the rest of North Somerset. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

The process

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Open a window if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Have new chips seen to early

Care for the repair the same way as the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and water can get through to the floor below.
