Areas we cover
How bath repair works in BS20
You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. Typical jobs include rusty patches near the plughole and a chip where the taps sit, across roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- Once it has cured, typically by the following day, the bath is ready to use.
Pricing in BS20
Our bath repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
What you get with us
- Colour-matched on site
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- No extra charge for your area
- One visit for most repairs
How to get a price
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Local landmarks in Portishead
In Portishead, that means homes near Church of St Peter, Royal Hotel and St Peter's Church of England Primary School. The closest station to Portishead is Avonmouth station, about 3.3 miles east of the centre. Further afield, we also cover the area around North Somerset Community Hospital (4.5 miles south-west) and Oakham Treasures (2.6 miles south-east). Open spaces near Portishead include Backwell Lake and Tickenham Hill.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Honest limits
A repair is not right for every job, for example:
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:
- How many items we do on one visit
- How hard the colour is to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The type of damage
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your pictures
The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- The material, if you know it
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.
How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.
BS20 questions
How do I book?
Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
What happens after I send pictures?
You’ll get a fixed quote back. You’re under no obligation.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.
How invisible is a bath repair?
We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.
