Need bath repair in Potarch?

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

How we handle bath repair in Potarch

We see every kind of bath damage: dropped-bottle chips, plughole rust, acrylic cracks and impact holes. All of it is repaired where the bath stands. Common call-outs are for a chipped rim or side and holes from dropped items, across pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Signs you need bath repair in Potarch

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

10 questions to ask before you book

Common questions in Potarch

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Usually, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you cover the entire of Aberdeenshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Potarch and the rest of Aberdeenshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally the next day. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. Allow a morning or an afternoon.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
