About our bath repair in Rapps

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the next day. Whether it’s holes from dropped items and chips caused by builders, we can help, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic alike.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

When we would advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Repair or replace in Rapps?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Rapps. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Rapps customers choose us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

FAQs for Rapps

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Usually. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Do you cover the whole of Somerset?

We cover the entire UK, including Rapps and the rest of Somerset. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Ask for a price

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your TA19 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
