Bath repair in Rhynie

Repair or replace in Rhynie?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Bath repair in Rhynie, done in place

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. We regularly repair acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are a cracked acrylic bath and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Rhynie and across Aberdeenshire.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We take into account:

  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Rhynie, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Rhynie, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Rhynie

Rhynie questions

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
