Bath repair in Scottish Borders without replacing anything

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. Typical jobs include rusty patches near the plughole and chips on the rim or sides, in cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

Repair or replace in Scottish Borders?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Signs you need bath repair in Scottish Borders

Baths take more knocks than people expect: bottles, shower heads and razors are dropped every day, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface

10 questions to ask before booking

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon, including clearing up.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
