Book bath repair in South Lynn

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Advice

Bath repair in South Lynn, done in place

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the next day. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. If you are dealing with chips along the edge of the bath and a kit repair that didn’t last, we can normally put it right, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why choose Surface Doctor in South Lynn

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

FAQs for South Lynn

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices do not change with location.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for South Lynn. The price reflects:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
