Need bath repair in Spon Green?

Bath repair in Spon Green without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are rust spots around the plughole and holes from dropped items.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes a few hours. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the following day.

Before we arrive

Advice

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What affects the price in Spon Green

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Spon Green. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
