Bath repair in Sunk Island

Bath repair at your home in Sunk Island

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are damage beneath the taps and a cracked acrylic bath.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What a repair can’t fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water cannot get in. Remove it before the repair.

Questions from Sunk Island

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of East Riding of Yorkshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Sunk Island. The price reflects:

  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Natural light rather than flash

Send us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Sunk Island, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Repair or replace in Sunk Island?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Sunk Island. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
