Bath repair in Swanmore without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a kit repair that didn’t last and a hole punched through by something heavy.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Swanmore. What changes the price is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a few hours. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
