Bath repair in Tircoed, done in place

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. We’re often asked to fix scratches you can feel with a fingernail and rusty patches near the plughole, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

What affects the price in Tircoed

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Landlord and trade work in Tircoed

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Tircoed as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Tircoed, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do you cover the whole of Swansea?

Across the UK, so Tircoed is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Typically, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you need bath repair in Tircoed?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How your room will be protected
  • Aftercare advice

How to compare quotes

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one usually means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
