Common questions in West Moor

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Is a bath repair durable?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Normally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Bath repair in West Moor without replacing anything

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We work on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a cracked acrylic bath and damage beneath the taps.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What we cannot put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What affects the price in West Moor

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to West Moor. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for West Moor. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Related advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
