Bath repair in Windlehurst

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Bath repair at your home in Windlehurst

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. If you are dealing with scratches you can feel with a fingernail and chips under the taps, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Landlord and trade work in Windlehurst

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

Windlehurst questions

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Most of the time. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Do you cover the whole of Stockport?

All of Stockport, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Repairing versus replacing in Windlehurst

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Windlehurst. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
