How we handle bath repair in Wyke

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a chip where the taps sit and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Before and after: a chipped, rust-stained bath around the plughole

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Wyke questions

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally within a day, depending on the repair.

When we would advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Wyke, we will quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What affects the price in Wyke

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the next day.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Should you replace it?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Typically it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
