Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Let steam out after showers

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Bath resealing in Bents, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We are often asked to fix leaks at the edges and silicone smeared on tiles, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Bents and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What affects the price in Bents

Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Your questions about bath resealing in Bents

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across West Lothian.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Do you work in Bents?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Bents. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Are there extra charges for Bents?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Why it’s worth resealing in Bents

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Bents, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A flexing bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes about two hours for a bath, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
