Need bath resealing in Craobh Haven?

Bath resealing in Craobh Haven without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We’re often asked to fix silicone smeared on tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Prices and what affects them

We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Craobh Haven questions

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
