Trusted bath resealing in Dunswell

Bath resealing in Dunswell, done in place

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. Typical jobs include gaps in the seal and water getting behind the bath or tray, on baths, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Make sure the area is dry

Common problems we fix in Dunswell

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Stained silicone
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

Our hiring checklist

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Use the extractor fan

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

FAQs for Dunswell

We will give you the curing time.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Dunswell?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
