How we handle bath resealing in Kingswood

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. Common call-outs are for a messy previous reseal and damp near the bath, in shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Common questions in Kingswood

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Signs you need bath resealing in Kingswood

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Stained silicone
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What to look for in a quote

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What preparation is included
  • How changes to the job are handled

10 questions to ask before booking

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

How we price bath resealing

Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Kingswood. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.
