Bath Resealing in Dury
Our repair technicians come to Dury for bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone. Nothing is taken out, and the work is guaranteed.
- Water getting behind the bath or tray
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Sealant that is split or lifting

Bath resealing in Dury without replacing anything
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are leaks at the edges and silicone coming away from the tiles.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What we do, step by step
From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes about two hours for a bath, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
How to prepare
- Open a window if you can
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Let us know which floor the room is on
Getting a price
Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.
Related advice
Common problems we fix in Dury
A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Gaps in the seal
- Black spots in the silicone
- Silicone smeared on tiles
What to look for in a quote
- How soon you can use it again
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether the price covers travel
- What protection goes down before work starts
How to care for the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Air the room after use
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, typically around 24 hours.
Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
Resealing in Dury: why it matters
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Dury questions
Can new silicone go over old?
We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.
How long will it take?
A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Are there extra charges for Dury?
There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Can you price it without visiting?
Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.
