How we handle bath resealing in Hawarden

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. If you’re dealing with gaps in the seal and old sealant that looks dirty, we can typically put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for around two hours. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

FAQs for Hawarden

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Do you work in Hawarden?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Hawarden and the rest of Flintshire. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Are there extra charges for Hawarden?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Hawarden, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Hawarden. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A flexing bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
