Trusted bath resealing in Mary Tavy

Bath resealing in Mary Tavy without replacing anything

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. We’re frequently asked to fix gaps in the seal and silicone smeared on tiles, on wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What bath resealing costs

You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can price the job.

Honest limits

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Do you need bath resealing in Mary Tavy?

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again

How to compare quotes

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
