Bath resealing near Methven

Bath resealing at your home in Methven

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Our repair technicians work on wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are damp near the bath and silicone smeared on tiles.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

Why it’s worth resealing in Methven

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Methven customers choose us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No need to remove anything

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours in most cases. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What bath resealing costs

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Methven, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Methven as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.
